    What this page is...

...is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Those that know me will look at this page and scratch their heads in wonderment: I'm normally very mercenary by nature, and I will make no profit from the information contained in these documents.

This attitude is constantly at war with my desire to teach.

This page is simply a compendium of information you can use to help the making of your Renaissance costume go a little smoother. Much of it is information I wish I'd had ten years ago when I first started making my own costumes for the Renaissance Festival. Things like what kind of boning to use (and not use), how to make my own shoes, what fabrics work for different garments. . .

I don't guarantee any of this stuff...I don't even know if you know how to use a sewing machine. That sort of thing is your problem: I'm just here to tell you things that work for me.

That being said, this page is also my place to grind my own axes. And believe me, after 11 years doing renaissance festivals, I have plenty of those. You'll see that clearly when you read the section on what this page isn't. . .
